2050 Comprehensive Plan Update

In December 2023, the LCPC began the process to update the Liberty County Comprehensive Plan. The first public hearing was held at the Liberty County Board of Commissioners meeting on January 18, 2024. In 2024, the LCPC staff will be holding community planning meetings in each of the Liberty County subareas, assessing the current plan, determining the changes that need to be made, and holding steering committee meetings.

Timeline of the Comprehensive Plan Update:

  • January 2024:  Initial kickoff Public Hearing for Comprehensive Plan at the Liberty County Board of Commissioners meeting. (January 18, 2024)
  • February 2024 – January 2025:  LCPC-led community engagement meetings in the 12 planning subareas of Liberty County.
  • October 2024 – April 2025:  Existing Conditions Assessment and Community Goals, Needs and Opportunities; Develop Transportation, Economic Development and other required elements on the Comprehensive Plan. Steering Committee meetings.
  • February 2025:  Public hearing on proposed Future Land Use Plan at Planning Commission.
  • May – June 2025:  Planning Commission Review and Public Hearing.
  • July 2025:  Second Public Hearing for Comprehensive Plan at the Liberty County Board of Commissioners meeting.
  • July– August 2025:  Regional and State Review.
  • September – October 2025:  City and County adoption.
  • October 31, 2025:  Georgia DCA deadline for final plan adoption.
